“Kolo bez granica” Welcomes Participants from Seven Countries

The third annual “Kolo bez granica” International Children’s Folklore Festival is set to take place from August 23rd to 27th in Tivat. The festival’s program is packed with public performances, educational content, and opportunities for young participants to bond. Events will be held at various iconic locations in Tivat, including the Pine city promenade, the Buća – Luković summer mansion complex, the Culture Square, and Porto Montenegro.

This year’s festival is expected to host participants from seven countries: Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Slovakia, Slovenia, North Macedonia, and Montenegro. Over 400 children will perform, making this festival one of the few international events dedicated solely to children at a national level. While participants will have a rich daily schedule filled with activities for mutual acquaintance and exploring the beauty of the Bay of Kotor, public programs will take place in the evenings.

On August 24th, the festivities kick off at 7:30 PM with an International Festival Parade, followed by the festival’s opening ceremony at the Pine city promenade and a full evening concert featuring foreign groups and local hosts. August 25th is dedicated to educational content, starting with a folklore workshop at 7 PM. At 9 PM, an open-air cinema will showcase a concert recording of KUD “Boka” titled “When I Walk Through Montenegro.” This concert is presented in the form of a folklore show, characterized by a unified display of folk dance, songs, and customs from Montenegro, interspersed with humorous dialogues that vividly convey the richness of Montenegrin cultural heritage.

On August 26th, starting at 7:30 PM, another International Festival Parade with performances will transform the streets of Tivat into a dance stage, culminating in a Gala concert at 8:30 PM. The Gala concert will feature performances from local hosts from KUD “Boka” and children’s folklore ensembles from KUD “Njegoš” from Cetinje, KUD “Bihor” from Petnjica, and KUD “Sloga” from Herceg Novi.

The festival is organized by the Cultural and Artistic Society “Boka” Tivat and is sponsored by the Municipality of Tivat. It has received support from the Tivat Tourist Organization, the Tivat Cultural Center, Porto Montenegro, and numerous sponsors.
