Montenegro’s Tribute to Football Legends Through Street Art

Montenegro, a country known for its breathtaking landscapes and rich history, has added another feather to its cap with the unveiling of a new mural at the Madลพarica stadium, Sports and Recreational Center “Topolica”. This mural is the third installment in the bARS selection, a series that pays homage to the iconic figures of Bar who have left an indelible mark on the city’s history.

This latest mural celebrates the legacy of four football legends from Bar:

  • Radovan Lale Bokan, the pioneering player who graced several Yugoslav first league teams.
  • Danilo Delibaลกiฤ‡, hailed as the best football player of FC “Mornar” according to fan polls.
  • Anto Radoviฤ‡, the unwavering captain of “Mornar” for two decades.
  • Miki Maลกanoviฤ‡, a legend both on the football field and in the city of Rumija.

Crafted by artists David Husiฤ‡ and Fran Koloviฤ‡, the mural stands out not just for its subject but also its unique style. The artists chose a palette of light blue, dark, and black tones to resonate with the club’s colors and the spirit of the “Sailors”. This mural is not just a testament to the football legends but also a reflection of the city’s deep-rooted love for the sport.

For fans of street art and football alike, this mural offers a perfect blend of art and history. It serves as a reminder of the city’s sporting heroes and is bound to be a new attraction for tourists visiting Montenegro.
